About Us

Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River or PFAR is a volunteer run, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. As a member of PFAR, you are helping to implement the mission and vision of PFAR which is:

To enhance and maintain the beauty, accessibility, and integrity of the Arkansas River corridor in Pueblo.

Examples of Events that PFAR Hosts or Co-sponsors

  • Various educational and recreational events about the Arkansas River, such as educational talks about birds, fly fishing and water safety.
  • Celebrating the Winter and Summer Solstice with a lantern parade, music and local food.
  • Celebration of different events like Damon Days, opening and naming of the new pedestrian bridges.
  • Cleaning up the riverbanks (first Saturday of each month).

Benefits to the River

Monthly trail and river cleanups, more marketing of River activities, lobby for River funding, advocate for the Arkansas River, increase awareness of the levee murals, fundraisers to improve the Arkansas River and trail. Safety and educational events.
